The Financial Crimes Unit (FCU) brings together our Cybersecurity, Fraud, Physical Security and Resilience Planning capabilities to address the ever-growing and increasingly complex global security environment. The BMO Threat Intelligence and Analytics team provides analysis and reporting services in support of BMO’s Global Intelligence Operations Center. Our responsibility is to investigate, understand and provide actionable intelligence concerning threats to BMO, the Financial services industry as well as supporting critical infrastructure industries. As a Senior Threat Intelligence Advisor, you will support our daily intelligence operations including analysis of emerging threats, threat actors, threat models and developing our Threat Intelligence platform.


  • Collaborate with internal teams on developing, implementing, and maintaining Cyber security Threat models.

  • Supporting the ongoing development and integration of our threat intelligence platform and related tooling.

  • Analyzes data and author threat intelligence reports to provide situational awareness, insights and recommendations concerning new threats, TTPs, IOCs, vulnerabilities, products or research.

  • Collects, organizes, analyzes and disseminates significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy in support of our Incident Response and Threat Hunting teams.

  • Performs documentation writing and maintenance of new and existing processes, procedures and requirements.

  • Recommends approaches to streamline and integrate Cyber security processes in the organization to improve overall efficiency.

  • Network with industry contacts to gain competitive insights and best practices.

  • Understands and can explain threats, risks and mitigation techniques for Cyber security teams.

  • Develops innovative approaches to resolve problems and significant issues.

  • Provides input to the strategic direction of the group.

  • Prepares and delivers presentations for senior leaders.

  • Assesses the quality of reports submitted and provides related coaching and support.

  • Looks for coaching opportunities with other team members.

  • Gathers requirements and documents these requirements for use in various audits, reports, & projects.

  • Performs documentation writing and maintenance of new and existing processes, procedures and requirements.

  • Recommends approaches to streamline and integrate Cyber security processes in the organization to improve overall efficiency.

  • Remains alert to new Cyber security technologies and threats that present risk to the enterprise and determines the best approach to mitigate these risks.

  • Stays abreast of industry trends/risks related to Cyber security, technology and business trends / risks through participation in professional associations, practice communities & individual learning.

  • Ensures consistent, high quality practices/work and the achievement of business results in alignment with business/group strategies and with productivity goals.

  • Operates at a group/enterprise-wide level and serves as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders.

  • Applies expertise and thinks creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to problems that can be complex and non-routine.


  • 6-7 years experience in Cyber Threat Intelligence, Cyber Incident Response or Cyber Operations at an Enterprise level

  • MUST HAVE at least 1+ years of experience with TIPs (Threat Intelligence Platforms)

  • Must have Experience with SIEM (Security Information Event Management).

  • 3-4 years of Scripting or programming experience: Python, PowerShell or Ruby.

  • Understanding of industry security standards and frameworks e.g., MITRE ATT&CK, CAPEC, OWASP, WASC, CSA, Cyber Kill Chain, NIST.

  • Experience using and developing Threat Intelligence Platforms, building integrations and championing the usage of these platforms.

  • Familiarity and understanding of Nation State, Criminal and Financially motivated Threat Actor groups; their motivations, TTPs, and capabilities

  • Understanding and problem-solving ability of Cyber security issues within a global Enterprise.

  • Data manipulation and analysis skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Collaboration & team skills; with a focus on cross-group collaboration.

  • Knowledge of Cyber security processes, procedures and controls.

  • Excellent Verbal & written communication skills.

  • 7+ years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in Cyber security, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business or in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Cyber security certifications; from a well-recognized institution (e.g. (ISC)2, ISACA, SANS). Any of CEH, OSCP, GREM, GCTI, or GCIH is a plus.
