BMO Financial Group Senior Manager Engineering Solution Consulting in Virtual, Texas

The Engineering Solution Consulting manager, manages a team of full time and contingent resources that supports the bank’s incoming technology pipeline by designing, providing cost estimation and executing planned complex technical solutions based on incoming business requirements.

The Solution Consulting team works as part of CIO aligned pods comprised of Engineering Forward Deploys and Engineering Cloud Leads. These teams combine to partner with CIO teams to review incoming requirements and design technology solutions that align with the bank’s strategic roadmaps and path to the cloud.

In addition to strong coaching and leadership skills, candidate will have a strong multi-disciplined technology base ranging from workstation technologies, database and server technology, through to data center server virtualization, containerization all the way to the cloud.

  • A base understanding of AWS and Azure cloud technology, and willingness to grow into the space

  • Develops and implements IT infrastructure & platform strategies for BMO

  • Develops strategic technology based on technical and business needs to support anticipated business strategies and organizational growth.

  • Designs, builds / installs, tests, maintains, monitors and upgrades infrastructure such as computing platforms, servers and networks.

  • Understands current and future technical platform hardware, operating system, security, and system services layers.

  • Ensures reliable and secure computing and communications capabilities to run the business software, while enabling the lowest operational cost/highest availability options.

  • Makes recommendations to senior leaders on strategy and new initiatives

  • Breaks down strategic problems and analyses data and information to provide insights and recommendations.

  • Contributes to the development of the strategy by understanding business processes, policies, information and information systems.

  • Presents and communicates at all levels across businesses / groups.

  • Builds interdependent teams that collaborate across functional and operating groups to create the highest value for all stakeholders.

  • Provides thought leadership in the development of new ideas, processes and emerging technology. Identifies emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making.

  • Determine underlying causes and participates in problem resolution for complex issues at all levels.

  • Builds exceptional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Stays abreast of industry technical and business trends through benchmarking and/or participation in professional associations.

Qualifications:

  • Understanding of AWS and Azure cloud technology

  • Typically 7+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Knowledgeable and experienced with technology/solution design and configuration, capacity management, hardware fault diagnosis, impact of design decisions to infrastructure components, functional/technical behaviour of middleware and data layers, virtualization, service design, DevOps and deployment environments and packaging and distribution of the application.

  • Relevant IT infrastructure & platform knowledge in one or more of the following Engineering domains: networking, distributed/server, storage, workplace technology and unified communications.

  • Knowledge of one or more requirements analysis and problem decomposition techniques.
