The Application Performance Management is a team of highly engaged technical resources engaged in measurement and analysis of the key bank applications, providing consulting, tuning recommendations and analytics of said applications. Application Performance starts with system architecting/design and ends with on-going assessment and tuning in production. The sooner performance is addressed in the system life cycle the more stable and cheaper the system will be to maintain in production.
The Sr Technical Specialist I - Performance Specialist for Distributed Applications is a technical subject matter expert (examples Java, Unix and/or WebSphere) with a strong development background and a keen interest in application performance. They will work with the team and management to further evolve the Distributed Application Performance Service.
The successful candidate will have a strong technical background including programming and experience to augment the skills of the existing team. The Sr Technical Specialist I - Performance Specialist in Distributed Application Performance shares expertise with project/work teams and is responsible for measurement, evaluation and reporting on the performance and capacity of the identified BMO Financial Group’s distributed applications and application parameter tuning for system software. They will also work in the development space as a performance expert/consulting role.
Possesses a university degree/college diploma and/or 7 - 10 years experience in the IT industry
Possesses solid knowledge of a significant segment of client business and/or industry standards
Demonstrates advanced knowledge of one or more areas of systems technology
Understanding of application performance analysis, tuning, trending and measurement
Possesses advanced technical skills and is able to learn and apply new skills quickly
Possesses advanced relationship management, communication, and coaching skills
Expertise of every skill listed (see following table) is not expected but the ability to converse with Peers on the varying components that define an application is required.
Ability to influence direction
Expert in application performance monitoring (Dynatrace, App Dynamics)
Intermediate in Operating System performance monitoring (Linux, Windows)
Expert in performance tuning (All Tiers – Web, App, DB Servers)
Expert in Application Servers (WebSphere, WebLogic)
Intermediate Database knowledge (Oracle and/or UDB)
Understanding of Basic Network Concepts (TCP/IP)
Intermediate Architecture Design
Experience with emerging technologies (MicroServices, OpenShift, Cloud)
