BMO Financial Group Senior Technology Officer- Development and Automation-SAP in Toronto, Ontario


The mandate of this new role will be to lead and manage all testing activities on the platform (FUT, QA, SIT, Performance, Simulation/Parallel) as well as, QA Engineering and automation work on the SAP platform through Worksoft and related tools.

The Successful Candidate will:

-Lead and manage a new development platform for Worksoft, to automate and orchestrate testing processes.

-Oversee Development, Operations, Maintenance for Worksoft for the SAP GL solution.

-Build up skill sets on the development team and testing team, with the right mix of internal, contractor and GR resources. Work closely with Worksoft experts on strategy and roadmap for the Bank.

-Lead all testing components required for the SAP GL solution, including FUT, QA, SIT, Performance, Simulation and Parallel testing. Develop overall test strategy and approach, working with other key SAP GL leaders (eg STO for GL Dev, STO for Basis and Security, STO for Data Integration, STO for Release Mgmt, Finance Business Process lead, etc.).

-Define and implement approach for new working model for testing in GL technology. Moving from a traditional, manual functional testing process, to an automated, fully integrated set of testing solutions. The to be approach will allow the GL program to achieve higher throughput of new functional and regression testing, given fixed timeframes required to meet delivery milestones.

a.Experience managing complex projects across business units and countries

b.Proven ability to manage diverse stakeholders throughout a project lifecycle

c.Demonstrated ability to assess the interdependencies of work processes very quickly Adaptable, flexible, well organized, and creative Working knowledge of General Ledger processes

2.Building Partnerships

a.Excellent interpersonal, influence and verbal/written communication skills

b.Ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities

c.Track record of successful partnerships with leaders at all levels

3.Development Manager Skills

a.Proven ability to manage a development team.

b.Experience at BMO in an STO or like role.

c.SAP experience, specifically with S/4 HANA and related solutions

d.Finance/Accounting experience is an advantage.

4.QA Manager Skills

a.Experience managing a QA team.

b.Familiarity with QA testing methodologies. Experience with QA using multiple development models (SDLC, agile, iterative, etc.)

c.Experience with automated test tools, QA scripting, HPALM.

d.Experience using Worksoft.


  • Typically 7-10 years of work experience in IT or business environment and/or BS/BA or MBA/MS in computer science, engineering, information systems, math or business

  • Expert level of knowledge in domain Broad/diverse business knowledge of a range of functions, products and/or systems, or expert knowledge of specialized functions, products and/or systems

  • Knowledge of software development practices, concepts, and technology obtained through formal training and/or work experience.

  • Knowledge of required programming languages and can code with little oversight.

  • Knowledge of technical/business environment and processes.

  • Understand functional aspects and technical behavior of the underlying operating system, development environment, and deployment practices.

  • Have facility with and understanding of the ecosystem that code operates in.

  • Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience and industry knowledge.

  • Verbal & written communication skills - In-depth / Expert.

  • Analytical and problem solving skills - In-depth / Expert.

  • Influence skills - In-depth / Expert.

  • Collaboration & team skills; with a focus on cross-group collaboration - In-depth / Expert.
