Knowledge and Skills

  • 6 - 8 years of Marketing, Digital and Business Management experience, preferably within the financial services sector

  • University degree in Marketing or equivalent. An MBA would be advantageous

  • In-depth technical marketing skills such as:

  • Marketing communication planning and execution skills

  • Digital (Google Adwords and Digital Certification) as it relates to B2C marketing and content development and management

  • Mass advertising and targeted marketing in traditional and digital media

  • Advanced knowledge of social media marketing on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter and Reddit

  • Experience directing and managing external agency relationships

  • Excellent communication, influencing and relationship management skills

  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills and keen attention to detail

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines

  • Ability to work in a matrix environment

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • Self-starter who can work independently and also actively pursue progress in the role

  • Well-developed prioritization, time management and multi-tasking skills

  • Ability to resolve a magnitude of diverse, complex and ambiguous issues.

  • Ability to maintain sound knowledge of target customer segment trends and best practices

  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams (lines of business and other marketing teams, legal, compliance) areas a strong asset

  • Existing relationships within BMO Financial Group considered a strong asset

  • Fast learner able to adapt to new challenges

Under the direction of the Director, the Senior Marketing Manager, Retail Investments is responsible for developing and executing integrated marketing programs and communication for retail investments through Canadian retail channels, as well as work on customer lifecycle, engagement and promotional initiatives, and content creation and marketing to help increase the awareness of Retail Investment Products (TERM, Mutual Funds and TFSA) in the Canadian market.

Collaborating with multiple teams across BMO Financial Group, the Senior Marketing Manager, Retail Investments is an integral member of the team supporting the growth of Retail investments with marketing that helps drive brand consideration, acquisition, retention and share of wallet growth. This role provides marketing support to the team and works collaboratively across a number of lines of business supporting marketing projects which include digital, advertising, public relations, for business to consumer (B2C) initiatives. This candidate must bring marketing strategy and execution skills and have the ability to forge strong working relationships and partnerships within a fast-paced environment where initiative, flexibility, and a team attitude are critical. The role is accountable to ensure alignment with overall corporate brand positioning, compliance with regulatory and privacy requirements.

  • Acts as a trusted advisor to assigned business/group.

  • Recommends and implements solutions based on analysis of issues and implications for the business.

  • Assists in the development of strategic plans.

  • Identifies emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making.

  • Helps determine business priorities and best sequence for execution of business/group strategy.

  • Conducts independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues.

  • Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide insights and recommendations.

  • Integrates information from multiple sources to enable more efficient processes, enhanced analysis and/or streamlined reporting.

  • Participates in the design, implementation and management of core business/group processes.

  • Leverages channel analytics to manage and optimize channel solutions.

  • Works with stakeholders to ensure quality and timeliness of strategic implementations.

  • Executes work within the channel in compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.

  • Provides specialized consulting, analytical and technical support.

  • Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.

  • Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations.

  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
