KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITIES

A.Relationship Management

· Support Risk Reporting group in preparing data for processing within the QRM risk engine and conveying clear advisement of change impacts

· Support Model Development group in providing feedback on the implementation of models within the QRM risk engine and conveying clear advisement of system capabilities

· Support Balance Sheet Management group in providing daily, weekly and monthly risk metrics used in implementing hedging strategies

· Support FTP analytic group in providing daily, weekly and monthly FTP Cost of Fund runs from QRM

· Interacting with Technology and Operations to resolve processing problems as they occur and to implement changes as they rise

B.Functional Expertise & Advisory

· Extensive SQL querying skills

· Build and maintenance of ETL logic in the QRM risk engine

· Processing steps required to generate risk statistics in the QRM risk engine

· Development of Business Managed Applications in Excel or Access where necessary to create efficiencies in processing and presentation

· Review and analysis of day over day, week over week, and month over month position change

· Review and analysis of compliance and risk reports on daily, weekly, and monthly basis

C.Continuous Improvement

· Recommendations for the continuous improvement of SMR or FTP processes and procedures within the scope of the work team and participate in the planning and implementation of projects. Take actions and steps towards moving to standardized processes.

· Assist in the development and maintenance of forecasting and performance measurement tools to effectively support the business.

· Support the implementation of changes to existing portfolio and financial reports to develop best risk and reporting practices.

· Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiencies and improve controls within the department by assisting in regular process reviews.

D.Governance & Control

· Ensure that daily, weekly, monthly compliance reporting is timely and accurate

· Develop and maintain standards and processes to ensure consistency in reporting.

· Maintain a current knowledge of accounting, governance and regulatory requirements to ensure Bank's compliance with RDARR and communicate the potential impacts and resolution of new requirements to the Senior Manager and disseminate issues to business partners as directed.

· Provide support for internal, external and regulatory audits by providing documentation and information.

· Escalate complex issues as appropriate.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Knowledge:

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Computer Science, Economics, Risk Management

  • 3+ years of experience in a technology role, with 1-2 years experience in a finance environment

  • Excellent knowledge of Excel, Access, SQL, VBA

  • Understanding of the Bank’s retail and wholesale product offerings

  • Understanding of financial market instruments, including derivative products, and pricing

  • Concept of Structural Market Risk and Funds Transfer Pricing

  • Knowledge of financial modeling

  • Knowledge of customer behavior modeling

  • Knowledge of QRM an asset

  • Master degrees, CFA, MBA an asset

  • Experience in working with multiple stakeholders across different organizational groups

Consults on analytical solutions to understand, analyze, and synthesize requirements, goals and objectives relative to data and business intelligence needs and to enable high-quality, fact-based business decisions to drive better business outcomes. Provides advice on the configuration, functionality, applicability, and usability of data management, data analytics, and data visualization technology solutions. Supports the development of the strategy and roadmap for data quality and data analytics, data modeling, reporting, business intelligence, and the design and development of sophisticated decision support tools.

  • Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.

  • Leads/participates in the design, implementation and management of new analytics & reporting solutions.

  • Designs, develops, and implements innovative analytical solutions.

  • Designs and produces regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards.

  • Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide subject matter insights and recommendations.

  • Structures and assembles data into multi-dimensions with various granularities (e.g., demographics, customers, products, transactions).

  • Monitors and tracks tool performance, user acceptance testing, and addresses any issues.

  • Integrates information from multiple sources to enable more efficient processes, enhanced analysis and/or streamlined reporting.

  • Designs, develops, and implements innovative analytical solutions.

  • Designs and produces regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards.

  • Builds reports and visualizations to effectively communicate data driven insights to users for a variety of audiences e.g. visualization solutions of data into reports, graphics, dashboards to illustrate facts, trends, and insights.

  • Develops solutions and makes recommendations based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs.

  • Supports development and execution of strategic analytics & reporting initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Analyzes data and information to provide subject-matter insights and recommendations.

  • Develops tools and delivers training programs for use of reporting tools and self-serve analytics by non-analytical end users; may include delivery of training to audiences.

  • Documents and maintain operational procedures and processes relating to analytical and reporting processes.

  • Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.

  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders in order to deliver on business objectives.

  • Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.

  • Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.

  • Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.

  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Typically between 4 - 6 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge and experience in data preparation, data analysis, and statistical tool sets including but not limited to Spotfire, Tableau, SQL, SAS, R, Python, MATLAB, SPSS - Very good.

  • Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience.
