The Portfolio Support Officer, Canadian Commercial Banking is accountable for providing support to designated Portfolio Manager(s) by investigating and providing risk reports to resolve breaches and maintain credit risk exposure, as well as completing quantitative and qualitative analysis of customer financial information. The role is accountable to understand the different customer segments and strategies supported and to provide accurate and effective gathering and interpretation/analysis of customer financial and account operation information and the preparation of annual reviews to support to the credit decisioning process for designated Portfolio Manager(s).

  • Investigate triggered alerts of set parameters including discussions with customer, conducting basic financial analysis to maintain credit risk exposure within Bank parameters and appetite and providing risk reports to Portfolio Manager(s) for resolution in a timely manner;

  • Support Portfolio Manager(s) with Annual Review process by identifying customers and accounts for review, completing spreads of financial statements, updating security information, and confirming risk positions.

  • Identify, record, and advise Portfolio Manager of any credit &/or risk management issues and related recommendations identified through review work.

  • Provide timely, accurate service and support to ensure the retention of valuable commercial clients and to identify and recommend workflow & process alternatives which can lead to improved efficiency and service levels.

  • Minimizes BMO’s risk exposure by adhering to internal credit policies and procedures with respect to lending decisions.

  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Bank systems including TSYS an asset

  • Corporate Card Product knowledge and / or Commercial lending background an asset

  • Ability to build effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or related field or comparable work experience

  • Verbal & written communication skills - Good

  • Organization skills - Good

  • Collaboration & team skills - Good.

  • Analytical and problem solving skills - Good
