BMO Financial Group Manager, Financial Planner Performance Reporting and Analytics in Toronto, Ontario


The Manager,Financial Planner Performance Reporting and Analyticsleads a team that design, develop and supports operations of daily, weekly andmonthly scorecards and compensation tools of financial planners at BMO. He/shemanages the end to end scorecard/compensation tool development lifecycle,including stakeholder comprehensive reporting and analytics intended to measurethe performance of financial planners against BMO strategy and financial plan.

Management Responsibilities

A. Business Delivery and Operational Effectiveness

  • Work with stakeholders and lead scorecard development from requirements, design, build, testing, and communications/release

  • Work with technology and other internal partners to source data, build metrics, and establish and build new reporting requirements

  • Develop and maintain an automated reporting process for daily/weekly/monthly reports

  • Maintain overall performance management website platform leveraged by this team and other partners

  • Ensure stability of reporting platform, establishing SLA with key partners to ensure prompt deliver and maximal uptime

  • Manage data integrity and implement effective QA testing into report development process; Resolve and/or escalate any issues as appropriate

B.Client and Relationship Management

  • Keep partners updated on the development pipeline, adding/removing/reprioritizing where needed

  • Work with partners to ensure Personal Banking reporting & analytics requirements program are articulated and well understood

  • Develop maintain and monitor referral protocols, recommending standards and targets to reflect changing business requirements acting as a key partner for resolution or escalation of issues and concerns.

C.Risk Management and Control

  • Manage data integrity, including ensuring data exchanged among systems is synchronized and in a receivable format. Resolve and/or escalate any issues as appropriate.

  • Maintain regular code review process, supporting other scorecard managers with code review and quality assurance where required

D. Managerial Leadership

  • Build and sustain a team of subordinates who are capable of delivering the performance required for the group, including coaching and the creation and implementation of training and development plans

  • Establish a two-way working relationship with subordinates to solicit their views on the working environment, potential changes affecting their work, continuous improvement opportunities, and revisions to the plan

  • Apply the Bank’s performance management system to subordinates, including establishing goals and objectives, assessing skilled knowledge gaps, allocating resources to achieve objectives and close gaps, assessing personal effectiveness, and reviewing and recommending base and variable pay

E. Planning

  • Develop, implement and review a plan to complete all assigned tasks in a timely manner to acceptable quality standards

  • Establish goals, plans and quality standards for each subordinate to achieve the plan

  • Review progress to plans, and develop, communicate, delegate and actively participate in the implementation of actions necessary to correct internal and external issues. Escalate significant issues

  • Determine and deploy equipment, processes and human resources, and optimize the allocation of resources within the team


Knowledge and Skills

  • Post-secondary degree in quantitative discipline including mathematics, engineering, computer science

  • 5 years of experience working with data reporting and analytics tools, including SQL, SAS, SSRS, Spotfire

  • Experience with building automated reporting process and robust QA framework

  • Excellent project management skills to successfully deliver projects and achieve business goals

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate with varying level of audience, and the ability to simplify complex technical content into key high level messages in a concise, tactful manner

  • Expert analytical thinking and problem solving skills
