BMO Financial Group Manager, Finance  in Toronto, Ontario


The Manager, Contract Management is accountable for managing the intake interpretation and analysis of Technology related contracts, provide driver based insights on development project activities and ensuring strong controls and governance processes. The incumbent will also act as a change agent by actively identifying and pursuing opportunities to improve processes, enhance controls and governance, drive efficiencies and implement process changes.

Key Accountabilities

Contract Management

Manage contract management activities, including documenting and monitoring contractual arrangements with external contractors/ consultants, business application costs (BACs) to ensure the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of information, and ensure compliance with BMO policies and procedures

Drive the integrity of Technology project and cost reporting through the contract review and interpretation process including capitalization processes for both internally developed software and tangible assets

Drive the financial close process(Month-end/Quarterly/Annual) by ensuring the contract management team produces accurate and timely non labour accruals and month end journal entries

Ensure the integrity of reported financial results by determining that appropriate control processes are in place to support the complete and accurate reporting of results

Work hand in hand with the Finance Operations team to ensure invoicing escalations are resolved in a timely manner

Work closely with leaders within the Technology teams, Global Resourcing PMOs, and other Business Partners to ensure appropriate resolution to variances/gaps in forecasts versus service delivery

Plan, organize and control the Contract Management activities and service levels to key stakeholders including managing the escalation process

Change Management

Support the operationalization of business/function change initiatives to ensure optimal effectiveness and efficiency from a financial perspective

As a member of the Technology Performance Management leadership team, continuously seek and pursue opportunities with fellow Direct Reports to improve the functioning of the broader team

Relationship Management and Team Leadership

Establish strong working relationships with CIO business management teams, Finance & Controllership teams, and with other stakeholders to deliver high quality, effective, efficient support. Includes being an advocate for Technology, while maintaining the objectivity required of a control/governance function.

Work closely with your team to develop individual skills and capabilities to enhance versatility, productivity and capacity

Build and sustain a team of analysts who are capable of delivering the performance required for Technology Performance Management.This includes coaching and the creation and implementation of training and development plans

Apply the Bank’s performance management system, including establishing goals and objectives, assessing skilled knowledge gaps, allocating resources to achieve objectives and close gaps, assessing personal effectiveness, and reviewing and recommending base and variable pay.


Undergraduate or graduate degree in business or economics is required

Accounting designation is preferred, but not required – CPA, CA, CGA, CMA

5 years’ experience in a Finance function in financial services

Excellent verbal and written communication and relationship managements skills

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, and contract formation

Forward and/or critical thinking ability

Flexible, adaptable and highly motivated

Effectively cope with complex and ambiguous situations

Professional team player who thrives in a dynamic environment
