Applies professional consultative sales and business development practices and techniques to drive adoption of BMO Nesbitt Burns’ fee for advice products and services as a means of growing IAs assets under management while managing their books effectively and efficiently.

Serves as a point of contact for Investment Advisors (IAs) and other branch personnel to assist them in integrating these proprietary products and services into their business model and provide them with ongoing support to effectively manage these programs within their practice. Collect and disseminate feedback from IAs, their teams and branch personnel with respect to these programs in order to enhance usability and increase penetration across the firm.

This role works closely with Investment Advisors, branch personnel, Product Teams, internal and third-party investment managers, Product Communications and outside vendors who support these investment solutions.

  • Develops and executes the business development strategy for the Wealth Action Team in partnership with management.

  • Plays a leadership role to promote the investment solution products and fee-based programs.

  • Provides input to the national sales strategy based on the potential and feedback from the field.

  • Drives business development efforts and marketing plans in partnership with the national sales team.

  • Works closely with the Managed Solutions Group to build portfolios created for HNW and UHNW clients.

  • Creates highly customized fee structures for HNW and UHNW clients

  • Identifies emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making.

  • Acts as a trusted advisor to our Investment Advisors, Market Leaders and Sales Associates, dispensing product information and issue resolution within a pre-determined SLA.

  • Recommends and implements solutions based on analysis of issues and implications for the business.

  • Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.

  • Provides weekly Asset Reports for Fee-based services and monitor growth trends.

  • Participates in defining the communication plan designed for new product launches; develops tailored messaging; and identifies appropriate distribution channels.

  • Updates IAs and their teams on product developments, enhancements and change management initiatives to ensure a positive IA and client experience.

  • Becomes a subject matter expert with respect to products and services in order to identify and provide solutions for client-specific scenarios.

  • Ensures IA inquiries are properly channeled within the organization to their complete satisfaction when advanced counsel is required.

  • Solicits feedback from IA network to assist product group in development and enhancement of product offering.

  • Assists in co-ordination of business development initiatives such as IA conference calls, seminars, road shows or other events that promote the exchange of information on the fee-based products and third party managers.

  • Liaise with external investment management firms to ensure consistency across internal and external marketing efforts.

  • Prepares regular reporting that tracks adoption of fee for advice programs to assist management in understanding penetration and achievement against plan.

  • Tracks IA coverage activities to measure effectiveness of Wealth Action Team.

  • Assists in development and distribution of fee for advice product sales support materials.

  • Works on-on-one with IAs to assist them with development and execution of fee for advice transition plans within their practice.

  • Identifies business needs, develops tools and participate in training programs; may include delivery of training to audiences.

  • Drives increased product knowledge and expertise by training and coaching BMO Investment Advisors and their teams.

  • Collaborates effectively with internal stakeholders to build capability and drive business growth.

  • Provides specialized consulting, analytical and technical support for certain products.

  • Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.

  • Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations.

  • Broader work, special projects or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.


  • Typically between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • In-depth knowledge of investment products and services.

  • Completed Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and CFA holder.

  • Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience.
