BMO Financial Group Vice President, Corporate Banking, FIG Asset and Wealth Managers in New York, New York

Supports the origination and structuring of corporate lending transactions, and coordinates with other products as an integral part of a larger coverage team that maintains strong client relationships. Includes providing lending expertise for a variety of sub-sectors under Asset & Wealth Managers, including but not limited to Fund Finance (BDC and Capital Call Financing), establishing credit facilities to support trading products business and facilitating credit approvals in support of Trade Finance products. Also provides ongoing management of the lending portfolio. Additional responsibilities including but not limited to:

Portfolio Management:

  • Manage a credit portfolio of diverse asset and wealth clients.

  • Completes due diligence and credit analysis on new and existing client relationships. May include client visits, analysis of business models, and comprehensive review of industry trends and related regulations.

  • Prepares credit documentation (i.e. including applications, memoranda, presentations, etc.) for internal and external stakeholders

  • Monitors client, client industry and regulatory agencies for potential changes which may affect client’s portfolio and business needs.

  • Reviews and continually monitors performance of existing accounts and client relationships.

  • Obtains credit concurrence and coordinates pricing approval as client advocate.

  • Works with internal stakeholders and deal specialists as needed to support successful deal completion. Applies appropriate technical concepts and completes/leads consistent and reliable technical and financial reports/analyses to support client deliverables.

  • Balances the Bank's risk appetite with the client needs in making recommendations/ proposal.

Support cross-sell and client coverage:

  • Operates as key member of the deal team with efforts to maximize sector penetration and returns.

  • Creates pitch books for clients with respect to financial solutions and participate in their presentation to clients

  • Partners with deal team and product specialists for accurate, detailed client information.

  • Identifies opportunities to diversify client portfolios.

  • Understands the needs of clients and provides relevant ideas and opinions to generate recommendations.

  • Collaborates with sector coverage partners to cover clients and prospects and to identify/ deliver creative, timely solutions.

  • Maintains key ongoing coverage contact with lending clients and sector managers.

  • Builds positive client relations through deep/comprehensive understanding of client needs and alignment of our products/services.

  • Interprets client strategy and anticipates needs to deliver solutions.

  • Uses financial analysis to proactively identify opportunities to cross-sell.

  • Work and coordinate with Analysts and Associates to manage the portfolio.

  • Reviews and guides work of Analysts and Associates to deliver business results.

  • Prepares/oversees delivery of creative and timely “pitches”.

Efficiency and Strategic Initiatives:

  • Identifies opportunities for increased efficiency and improved service to internal and external clients.

  • Supports the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Identifies opportunities to find more cost-effective ways to impact the bottom line and drive profitability.

  • Integrates information from multiple sources to enable more efficient processes, enhanced analysis and/or streamlined reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Typically, between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Undergraduate degree with focal areas of finance, economics, or accounting preferred with high academic achievement.

  • MBA, CFA or equivalent experience in financial services, accounting, or legal fields.

  • Relevant Asset & Wealth Manager/ Fund Finance Sector experience is highly desired.

  • Good knowledge of the organizational lending and portfolio management policies and objectives.

  • Displays advanced deal execution and/or project management skills - ability to manage more than one client / major initiative.

  • Strong analytical skills. Expertise in financial computer applications and database management tools.

  • Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience.

Base Salary Range

$175,000-190,000 USD

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
