BMO Financial Group Technical Development Lead - Banking Technology in New York, New York

Drive the development and delivery of scalable and easy to maintain services while following Agile methodologies, to achieve timely and quality deliverables. Lead a global team of developers focused on timely and quality deliveries.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with various line of business to bring together Banking Technology strategy including Investment Banking, Origination, and Corporate Banking.

  • Provide strategic technology direction to meet or exceed required levels of functionality and to ensure compliance with risk management, security, and audit requirements.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies to identify best of breed solutions and drive their review through POCs and successful implementation if needed.

  • Collaborate and build relationships with other domain architects, development teams, partners, and internal business stakeholders.

  • Lead a team of global developers towards the development and implementation of program goals with a focus on timely and quality deliverables.

  • Understanding and converting user requirements into high quality functional solutions, with involvement in the full lifecycle of the project

  • Manage multiple technology work-streams in parallel to deliver to the book of work

  • Provide oversight for solutions including technical design, solution design, and code reviews

  • Successfully leads to completion all project phases (initiation, planning, execution, control, closure)

  • Drives issue resolution, challenges the team to overcome obstacles at the project/program level

  • Communicate effectively with developers, system analysts, project sponsors and business users.

  • Collaborates with stakeholders to understand and unite business goals and user goals.

  • Effectively manage work slate and development environment with focus on Agile methodology, DevOps and overall timely / quality deliveries.

  • Lead by example through the implementation of challenging and complex components

  • Work closely with your project team and foster a fun and collaborative environment

  • Ensure quality through adherence to technical best practice and through mentorship, feedback and paired programming

JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in coding, technology development and driving technology initiatives in Financial Services

  • 10+ years of prior experience in technology development in capital markets

  • 10+ years of experience in application development using Spring framework

  • 7+ years of experience in Relational Database development in SQL Server, Oracle, DB2 or equivalent

  • 5+ years of prior experience in direct interactions with users and application stakeholders in Financial Services

  • 5+ years of prior experience in driving client focused solutions internally and/or externally

  • Hands-on knowledge in Cloud environments such as AWS

  • Proven capabilities in effective management of tasks, multi-tasking, delivery focus and hard working

  • Ability to meet client needs without sacrificing deadlines and quality

  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively within a global team

  • Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree.

Suggested Qualifications:

  • Cross Capital Markets and/or Investment Banking experience is a strong plus.

  • BI Analytic Tools, AWS, Machine Learning experience a strong plus

  • Delivery focused with great communication skills.

  • Expertise in Java, JavaScript, SQL, REST, Spring, AWS.

  • Previous Financial experience and BI tool knowledge experience is a huge plus.

Compensation & Benefits:

Annual base salary: 73,200.00 - 135,900.00 USD Annual . The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the BMO Financial Group's salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role. This position is also eligible for a bonus plan.

The base salary and potential bonus is one component of BMO Financial Group's total compensation package for employees.
