MANDATE

The Regulatory Services team works closely with Capital Markets, Compliance and Technology to support key regulatory reporting obligations of BMO and its subsidiaries, globally.

The regulatory reporting processes are regulatory mandated requirements for Banks and Dealers to comply with a significant number of trade reporting processes, often under time restrictions from the point of trade.

The group consists of senior Middle Office specialists based in the main centres for BMO’s Capital Markets activities (Toronto, Montreal, New York, London).

The role reports into the Regulatory Services Europe manager, as part of BMO Capital Markets & International Operations.

The ideal candidate will have experience in supporting Transaction Reporting or have had at least 3 years experience in booking and supporting Capital Markets products, predominantly in the exception remediation space.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Be responsible for successfully delivery of tasks including but not limited to:

  • Root cause analysis and remediation of transaction reporting exceptions

  • Delivery of management metrics

  • User acceptance testing

  • Escalation of issues to Management where required

  • Managing time to deliver best possible Compliance to BMO’s Transaction reporting obligations

  • Partnering with Front Office, Middle Office, Technology, Operations, Legal, Compliance, Supervision & other stakeholder groups

  • Be responsible for diligently and efficiently managing day to day workload, ensuring communicating clearly with management if any issues regarding ability to complete daily workload and/or identification of any compliance issues.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Knowledge:

  • A university degree

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in Capital Markets and/or Regulatory Reporting

  • Understanding of Capital Markets products, including both FICC & Equities, and how the products and lifecycle events link to regulatory reporting requirements

  • Knowledge of Securities Financing products such as Repos and Securities Lending would be beneficial

  • Regulatory reporting (transaction reporting) knowledge; EMIR, MiFID, SFTR, etc. – the data, architectures and flows

  • Experience with investigating and remediating exceptions, producing test plans and executing test cases

  • Hands-on experience working on change initiatives

  • Strong understanding of risk-based prioritisation

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to apply judgement and sound decision-making is critical

  • Ability to work with team members & stakeholders located in several different locations

  • Ability to explain complex business and / or technical concepts to stakeholders across a wide spectrum of business areas

  • Comfortable working in a fast paced environment that requires an agile approach to recommending solutions to issues & problems

  • Detail and results-oriented

  • High level of adaptability, able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks at the same time

  • Personable and able to partner with teams in a cross functional environment

  • Prior experience of Jira and Excel would be beneficial

  • Ability to work with large volumes of data helpful
