Supports various teams in a portfolio management function for Corporate Banking Global Financial Institutions. Global FIG sectors include International Banking, Insurance, Broker/Dealer, Specialty Finance and Asset Wealth. The Global FIG Portfolio management function includes assisting in the origination and structuring of corporate lending transactions, providing lending and credit expertise to the FIG teams, oversee credit monitoring, working with internal stakeholder to manage and establish credit facilities to support internal entities, and facilitate credit approvals across the various FIG teams.
Contributes to growing / elevating the BMO and BMO Capital Market brand with a commitment to and presence in the community.
Operates as key member of the Global Financial Institutions Group portfolio management team managing credit risk and returns.
Monitors client, client industry and regulatory agencies for potential changes which may affect client’s portfolio and business needs.
Reviews and continually monitors performance of existing accounts and client relationships.
Key credit recommender for FIG transactions/facilities.
Oversees Global FIG Business Analysts and their credit monitoring workload and initiatives.
Assist in monitoring country risk in locations the International Banking maintains relationships.
Identifies opportunities for increased efficiency and improved service to internal and external clients.
Acts as a positive change agent to drive improved efficiency and effectiveness.
Maintains awareness of all firm products and services offered and facilitates means of receiving continuous updates.
Supports the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
Builds effective relationships with internal stakeholders.
Works with specialists as needed to support successful deal completion.
Understand complexity of transactions and related risk (credit, market, operational, legal/compliance, etc.).
Balances the Bank's risk appetite with the client needs in making recommendations to credit for the various FIG teams.
Provides feedback on, and, supports continuous improvement opportunities.
Identifies opportunities to find more cost-effective ways to impact the bottom line and drive profitability.
Integrates information from multiple sources to enable more efficient processes, enhanced analysis and/or streamlined reporting.
Reviews and guides work of Analysts and Associates to deliver business results.
Considers risk, internal controls and compliance as part of day-to-day accountabilities and adheres to policies and procedures.
Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.
Provides specialized consulting, analytical and technical support.
Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations.
Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
Typically between 5 - 7 years of relevant lending experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Undergraduate degree with focal areas of finance, economics, or accounting preferred with high academic achievement.
MBA, CFA or equivalent experience in financial services, accounting, or legal fields.
Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in corporate banking, negotiating and structuring financial transactions.
Good knowledge of the organizational lending and portfolio management policies and objectives.
Displays advanced deal execution and/or project management skills - ability to manage more than one client / major initiative.
Strong analytical skills. Expertise in financial computer applications and database management tools.
Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience.
