At BMO we count on our site reliability engineers (SREs) to empower our users with a rich feature set, high availability, and stellar performance level to pursue their missions. As we expand our customer deployments, we are currently seeking an experienced SRE And Devops manager in an enterprise environment ranging from mobile devices to mainframe platforms.
Specifically, We are searching for a senior leader that will manage both our DevOps and ITSM teams and processes and bring a logical evolution to a modern SRE practice. We are searching for someone who brings fresh ideas, demonstrates a unique and informed viewpoint, and enjoys collaborating with a cross-functional team to develop real-world solutions and positive user experiences at every interaction.
Objectives of this Role
Manage and evolve our traditional ITSM teams and processes to adapt to an SRE approach
Participate in the management of the production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health
Run the lower (development and testing) environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health
Manage and enable CD/CI and best Devops practices across all our environments
Adopt software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications
Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of software solutions
Measure and optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating to continually improve
Provide additional operational support and engineering for multiple large distributed software applications and primary support in our lower environments
Ensure the stability of our change and release management processes
Provide a clear and transparent communication when incidents and problems arise, that are geared towards the continuous improvement of the resilience of out platforms
Manages the proper staging, masking and custody of testing data across all involved systems
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities
Manages the traditional ITSM existing processes and functions
Manages a team of engineers that provide DevOps and resilience services to multiple projects
Oversees the teams that manage the quarterly enterprise releases
Gather and analyze metrics from both operating systems and applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding
Partner with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures
Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning
Create sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts
Balance feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service level objectives
