BMO Financial Group Senior Leader for Distribution Analytics & Customer Optimization in Chicago, Illinois

About the role:

Reporting to the VP Salesforce Analytics (Personal and Business Banking), The Senior Leader for Distribution Analytics & Customer Optimization is the Business Analytical Lead (BAL) and primary conduit - senior advisor who translates business strategy into analytics strategy and solutions which deepen understanding of the business and the markets in which we compete, and directly enable key business KPI’s. This individual will harness the capability of Data & Analytics capability and use it to boost BMO’s offerings (products incentives and customer optimization) coordinate, facilitate and oversee all analytical requests and deliverables by working with the senior leadership to prioritize and deliver the analytics required to drive business results.

In this role the individual is accountable to help define, and ensure the right analytics, people and alignment are in place across teams to advance Analytical and Business strategies. This role will proactively advise business leaders on the right analytics approach, and analytical solutions to drive the business forward and lead a team of 20+.

Key responsibilities:

Strategy Insights and Planning

  • Create, gain alignment, and maintain the ongoing strategic analytics plan inclusive of: data requirements, reporting, predictive analytics, customer campaigns, analytical infrastructure and tools, and analytical processes needed to drive business forward.

  • Develop customer contact, revenue/risk and pricing optimization strategies.

  • Translate the bank's financial plan into specific, achievable targets for individual roles, ensuring these targets are in alignment with the bank’s financial and service objectives.

  • Lead Business Alignment sessions which include integrated insights and consolidation review across teams to shape ongoing planning cycle and decisions.

  • Leverage knowledge of market, industry trends, customer behaviors and analytical best practices to proactively identify strategic opportunities for the business to directly enable KPI’s.

  • Determine new analytical data and tools to advance analytical capabilities to deliver increased revenue and NPS.

  • Developing recommendations and business rationale to changes and obtaining executive and board approvals.

  • Oversight of 3 significant compensation plans including the creation & management of scorecards for all roles.

  • Accountability for both financial & non-financial metrics and the requisite reporting.

  • Budget oversight to manage incentive risks.

Data, Analytics, and Insights

  • Proactively identify revenue, risk, and pricing opportunities through analytics.

  • Leverage analytics to size, scope and determine business opportunities to create business cases aimed to meet business objectives.

  • Develop comprehensive analytics surrounding the sales model to optimize staff strategy & role mix.

  • Responsibility to ensure maximum return on analytics investment (technology and people) for your area, and to represent your business partners’ needs in the context of the broader organizational analytical needs.

  • Proactively identify ongoing data which feeds the KPI’s of the business. Ensure continued clarity of business results, interpretation and growth of business understanding through the proper use, interpretation and investment of data for the to support business partner’s objectives.

  • Proactively share relevant insights in and outside of your area to broaden management team’s awareness of business trends.

  • Manage and develop First-line monitoring of sales practice risk within incentive plans.

What you need to succeed:

Knowledge:

  • University degree/college diploma

  • Minimum 10 years of progressively complex leadership and related experience in Banking Analytics, Business Intelligence or Financial Analysis

  • In-depth understanding of data analytical approaches and tools

  • Experience working in large matrixed organizations.

  • Expert understanding of banking customer needs, trends and market dynamics

  • Expert financial and numeracy acumen

  • Advanced knowledge of business strategy and financial acumen to align business objectives to corporate goals to maximize shareholder value.

  • Experience in client optimization (revenue/risk, pricing, and contact)

Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in Salesforce Analytics

  • Technical experience working with analytical software, and business software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Working knowledge and experience with SAS, Python, SQL, campaign management systems is considered an asset

  • Advanced relationship management and consulting skills, including the ability to:

  • earn the trust/respect of the business groups and leaders.

  • lead and facilitate critical discussions.

  • effectively influence at a senior level

  • Expert knowledge and experience in banking products campaign design, development, execution and measurement

  • Highly advanced communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex content into key high-level messages in a concise, tactful manner to senior level audiences both in writing and orally.

  • Expert analytical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Extensive expertise in leading business initiatives that cut across multiple business lines and multiple business functions.

  • Strong diagnosis skills followed by excellent ability to evaluate options/alternatives and develop solutions/recommendations for solutions to complex and multi-dimensional problems/issues.

  • Able to deal with ambiguity, amongst multiple projects and competing priorities.

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of use of analytical approaches, processes, and solutions.

  • Extensive expertise partnering to successfully deliver projects and achieve business goals.

  • Strong project management skills and effective execution skills to ensure successful delivery/implementation of special initiatives, processes, and policies

Salary:

$128,000.00 - $238,000.00

Pay Type:

Salaried

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
