Senior Financial Analyst-Commercial Banking

Facilitates decisioning and analysis of all types of credit information to support lending decisions and processes for the Bank. Support the entire commercial lending process from prospecting, proposal, prescreen, underwriting, due diligence, documentation prep, closing and monitoring. You will work closely with Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers and customers on a large, complex commercial portfolio. Maintains and promotes a client service environment to satisfy and exceed customer needs and expectations. This role will make credit decisions and recommendations in accordance with sound credit-granting principles and in compliance with Bank Policies & Procedures.

  • Provides thorough and accurate financial analysis and risk assessment of new and existing customers operating in a variety of industries ranging from lower middle market to large publicly traded companies.

  • Monitors clients within assigned portfolio to identify deteriorating credit conditions and compliance with loan agreement.

  • Develops credit information to make lending decisions on new, renewal and extension loans.

  • Oversees preparation of concise, well-reasoned credit correspondence.

  • Minimizes BMO’s risk exposure by adhering to internal credit policies and procedures with respect to lending decisions.

  • Responsible for reviewing and maintaining credit files and compliance reviews.

  • Acts timely, efficiently and independently, taking ownership of client satisfaction.

  • Acts as the prime subject matter expert for internal/external stakeholders.

  • Regular exposure to other areas of the Bank/internal partners.

  • Partners with internal stakeholders for accurate, detailed client information.

  • Designs and produces regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards.

  • Participates in the development of financial models and other analytical tools to assist clients in evaluating capital structure.

  • Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations.

  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

  • May participate in customer/prospect calls and on-site customer visits with other internal stakeholders.

    Qualifications:

  • Typically 5+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Formal Commercial Credit training preferred

  • Commercial Banking Analysis & Underwriting experience required; Equipment Finance experience a plus

  • Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience.

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate and work well as part of a team

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
