BMO Financial Group Manager, Risk Strategy, Initiatives & Reporting in Chicago, Illinois

Independent contributor, supporting in the teams within the broader North American P&BB Risk Management Group in the effective implementation, maintenance and administration of the first line of defense (1st LOD) programs (e.g., Operational Risk, AML, Compliance, Regulatory, etc.), through the use of data and technology. Contributes to a strong risk management culture through collaboration with other first line employees, and second & third line functions to ensure Risks are identified, mitigated, monitored and reported on an ongoing basis. The Manager is responsible for development of metrics and reporting processes to provide a clear view of the US P&BB business-specific risks with the goal of improving the risk issues that violate compliance with the Bank’s risk requirements.
Manage data/technology/process improvement initiatives end-to-end through the intake, analysis, build and release delivery cycle.
Work with stakeholders to understand business requirements to deliver accurate data through business reports, actionable insights, and recommendations to drive decisions.
Gather data from various sources to proactively monitor potential risks, assist in data request, or help mitigate open risk issues.
Builds change management plans of varying scope and type; leads or participates in a variety of change management activities including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation and sustainment of initiatives.
Develop dashboards to deliver data insights or trends to end user in a standardized, repeatable and efficient process
Be able to use data/technology knowledge to identify potential solutions to mitigate risk and use data to tell a story with fact-based information to help drive decisions
Uses SQL and other tools/technics for data research, preprocessing from various back-end systems and centralized data platforms.
Uses Power BI, Apps and Automate to deliver data and/or processes in an automated, consistent and end-user friendly way.
Develops and maintains knowledge of various risk stripes applicable to the Bank’s Lines of Business – Operational, Compliance, AML Risks, among others
Develop and maintains knowledge of Bank product offerings, operations and markets to facilitate compliance with risk requirements
Develop and maintains knowledge of technology, emerging technology, data tools and techniques that can be used to meet risk requirements.
May support multiple, varied business units with large/complex risk programs/frameworks /projects/initiatives to ensure risks are appropriately mitigated and regulations adhered to
Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
Develops, documents and maintains business/group procedures updating and obtaining approvals as necessary
Supports broader team by executing quality assurance reviews prior to delivering data, reports, processes to stakeholders.
Through periodic reviews, assess, analysis data/reports/process with stakeholders to ensure deliverables are meeting requirements of stakeholders.
May support the business/group through internal/external audits or regulatory examinations and assists in development of action plans to resolve any identified issues.
Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations.
Qualifications:
Typically between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience working for a large organization with a complex data structure / environment
Data visualization and analysis experience using Power BI or other tools
Experience with SQL, Python, Power Automate, Power App, MS Office tool- Excel, Access DB, Power point, SharePoint, and other tools and frameworks
Knowledge of Extract, Transfer Load (ETL), data preprocessing, manipulation and visualization & reporting techniques

Salary:
$72,500.00 - $134,500.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
