Manager – Credit Card Portfolio Growth and Optimization

The Manager – Credit Card Portfolio Growth and Optimization is accountable for the definition, execution, maintenance and implementation of credit card portfolio strategies and initiatives relating to balance building (balance transfers), credit line management (credit limit increase and decrease) and account risk management initiatives for BMO’s U.S. Payments consumer and Small Business credit card portfolios.

This role will report into the Director, Portfolio Management and Policy and drive incremental risk-optimized revenue and balance growth related to the above-mentioned portfolio initiatives.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Oversight of overall strategy and implementation of portfolio management programs at the customer level for BMO US Payments consumer and small business credit card portfolios

Responsible for supporting portfolio growth and optimization goals while reducing operational risk, maximizing flexibility and building new functionalities designed to drive customer penetration and channel diversification

Function as a key liaison with various internal partner teams, including product, credit policy, finance, credit risk, analytics, operations, and the customer contact center on all portfolio growth and optimization activities

Manage balance transfers and credit limit increase/decrease activities and assists our customer facing staff in resolving concerns of customers as well as enhancing processes

Responsible for ongoing tracking, reporting and P&L management of existing and future balance transfer and credit limit management initiatives and generate insights to drive optimization

Develop and maintain procedures for portfolio management activities including staff training, updates to disclosures and marketing materials

Conduct ongoing credit card market reviews and partner with the marketing teams to ensure balance build program offers and value proposition remain competitive and are bench-marked to peer credit card issuers

Ensure a strong focus on customer experience and change management

Provide specialized consulting, analytical and technical support.

Exercise judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.

Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations.

Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Typically between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge of credit card business and product economics

Previous experience with Balance Transfer and/or Credit Limit Increase/Decrease initiatives required

Experience with TSYS and TRIAD systems preferred

Excellent communication, relationship management and financial management skills

Ability to successfully manage cross-functional relationships with internal partners
