The Financial Crimes Unit (FCU) brings together our Cybersecurity, Fraud and Physical Security capabilities to address the ever-growing and increasingly complex global security environment. This is a fantastic opportunity where you will define and build the IAM strategic direction from the ground-up, and provide your thought-leadership to enable business and technology teams to fulfill their goals. You will also play a key role in establishing and implementing guidelines for the deployment of IAM in cloud-based solutions. You will be overseeing/ leading approx. 50-60 employees in IAM which includes several leaders.

This opportunity will focus on monitoring, restoring service, changes, supporting and handling day-to-day activities 7/24/365 required to run the mission critical Information Security systems for BMO. You will provide responsive customer service in support of cyber security.

Travel Requirements: Up to 25-40% travel is required for this role*

*This role can be based in Chicago (IL), Berkeley Heights (New Jersey) or the Greater Toronto area in Canada depending on where you currently reside.

  • Manages people and leads a team capable of delivering the desired business results.

  • Acts as a trusted advisor to senior leaders for making business decisions and implementing strategic initiatives.

  • Develops an expert understanding of business/group challenges.

  • Networks with industry contacts to gather competitive insights and best practices.

  • Recommends measures to improve organizational effectiveness.

  • Provides advice, expertise, counsel and support to senior leaders as input to business decisions and medium to long term strategic planning and roadmaps, and makes recommendations to senior leaders to facilitate the achievement of objectives.

  • Recommends business priorities, advises on resource requirements and develops roadmap for strategic execution.

  • Acts as the prime contact for internal/external stakeholder relationships, which may include regulators..

  • Prepares and delivers presentations for senior management.

  • Leads the execution of operational programs; assesses and adapts as needed to ensure quality of execution.

  • Recommends and sets strategic goals and budget for operational activities.

  • Plans and controls unit operating expenses in accordance with forecasts.

  • Ensures processes and procedures are well documented and promotes their implementation.

  • Ensures governance and oversight activities in place to ensure team efficiency and effectiveness and compliance to applicable standards/policies/etc.

  • Oversees customer support processes and organize them to enhance customer satisfaction.

  • Regularly evaluates and reports on the efficiency of business processes according to organizational objectives and applies improvements.

  • Monitors and evaluates overall performance by gathering, analyzing and interpreting data and metrics.

  • Assesses and adapts existing operational programs; develops new capabilities to ensure ongoing success.

  • Monitors & maintains security tools and applications.

  • Creates activity reports for security tools and applications.

  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders in order to deliver on business objectives and to support operational activities for Information Security.

  • Develops an understanding of organizational interactions and complexity to engage with the appropriate matrix areas.

  • Actions service requests, transactions, queries etc. within relevant service level agreements.

  • Coordinates and facilitates incident management activities. Includes deploying changes to the production environment and engaging 2rd party providers contracted to the Bank during an incident.

  • Recommends approaches or changes to streamline and integrates security processes and systems in the organization, while considering Information Security methodology to improve overall efficiency.

  • Provides technical Information Security subject matter expertise.

  • Identifies opportunities to strengthen the capability of the Information Security organization at BMO, such as: sharing expertise to promote technical development and mentoring employees.

  • Stays abreast of industry technical and business trends through participation in professional associations, practice communities and individual learning.

  • Ensures consistent, high quality practices/work and the achievement of business results in alignment with business/group strategies and with productivity goals.

  • Operates at a group/enterprise-wide level and serves as a senior specialist resource across BMO.

  • Influences how teams/groups work together.

  • Applies expertise and thinks creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to multiple, interdependent, complex problems.

  • Min of 10+ years of experience working within an Information Security department/area.

  • Min of 5+ years in IAM capabilities and technologies

  • Min of 5+ years demonstrated experience in previous people-leadership roles. Experience in developing, coaching, and managing the performance of Senior Managers.

  • Expertise with establishing and developing an IAM road-map, and provide strategic direction to the organization across LOB.

  • Strong experience with IAM vendor products and/or management systems as well as industry best practices.

  • Strong experience with establishing and implementing guidelines and best practices for deployment of IAM in cloud-based solutions.

  • Expertise with driving the maturity of IAM capabilities with new and existing solutions that meet security and business objectives.

  • Demonstrated experience in identifying and mitigating gaps in all aspects of an organizations’ IAM maturity as well as running an effective IAM operation.

  • Experience in banking or financial industry is preferred

  • Typically 9+ years of relevant experience and in Business or Computer Science, or a related field of study or an equivalent combination of formal training, or industry / technical certifications or work experience.

  • Multiple Information Security certifications from a well-recognized institution (e.g. (ISC)2, ISACA, SANS). Additional certifications in related fields preferred.

  • Knowledge of Information Security operations – including processes, procedures, and performance/ operation metrics - Expert.

  • Knowledge of information security processes, procedures and controls - Expert.

  • Understanding and problem solving ability of information security issues across the bank and appreciation of the scope of complexity that exists in the operating environment and the ways which security platforms impact that environment - Expert.

  • Understanding of industry standards and frameworks e.g. NIST Cyber Security Framework (CSF), ISO 27001 and 27002 - Expert.

  • Experience in Information Security or with multiple areas of systems and computer operations (e.g. Identity & Access Management, IT operations, Certification & Key Management, Security Platform Administration, Security Incident Response)

  • Partnering, communication, and negotiation skills to communicate effectively within the team and with technology and business partners - Expert.

  • Understands the scope of complexity that exists in the operating environment and the ways which security platforms impact that environment.

  • Knowledge of information security support and operations concepts, practices, concepts, and technology obtained through formal training and work experience.

  • Knowledge of the technical and business environment and the corporate processes and procedures - Expert.

  • Understanding of information security risk and regulatory requirements - In-depth.
