BMO Financial Group Deal Specialist – Corporate & Commercial Lending Operations (US) in Chicago, Illinois

The Deal Specialist resides within close proximity of the Business Partners they service. They provide mid office support with accountability for reading the credit agreement/credit approval, structuring the deal parameters on the loan system and notifying the booking locations. They participate in the deal closing event ensuring conditions precedent to funding have been met, track legal and compliance documentation and play an active role in the follow up and escalation process.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Review Loan Docs/Compliance w/approval

  • Complete Due Diligence

  • Track & Monitor Legal Document Receipt

  • Document & obtain initial funding instruction

  • Structure Deal / Pricing in LIQ

  • Track UCC/Insurance

  • Provide support for Non Lending booking process

  • Update Margined collateral & BBC values

  • Track Receipt of Compliance documents

  • Record Financial Covenants & Pricing Matrix Updates

  • Escalate Document & Collateral Exceptions

  • Prepare specialty legal documents (Dealer Finance/Broker)

  • SAMU Cash Monitoring

  • Collateral Release

  • Prepare Financial Trigger monitoring W/S

  • Pricing & Amortization Changes

  • Lender Commitment Allocations, Syndication Fee, Lender Fees

  • Coordinate Lender Communication Legal, Ongoing Financial Documentation

  • Coordinate/Settle Loan Trading Transactions


  • Typically between 3 - 5 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Undergraduate degree in business, business law, finance, economics or accounting.

  • Excellent analytical skills, business and financial.

  • Highly skilled in review of legal documentation.

  • Risk and control mindset

  • This role will allow the individual to gain a solid foundation on understanding Corporate and Commercial lending, deal structures and risk.

  • Develop of communication skills through Customer and business partner interaction.

  • Understanding of business purpose documentation and controls.
