BMO Financial Group Senior Marketing Manager - Segment Team Lead in Chicago, Illinois

As a part of the Personal & Business Banking U.S. Deposit marketing team, you will be accountable for the strategy, development, execution and continuing improvement of marketing programs, tactics and plans that support the Retail Deposits Banking portfolio, specifically growth of specific key customer segments. 

The Segments Marketing Team Lead for U.S. Deposits Marketing is the maintains strong and collaborative partnership with the Line of Business, to develop an understanding of the business/group positioning the marketing team to produce effective and integrated marketing solutions. Your strategic oversight will support their efforts to develop, execute and report on measurement of success for key campaigns that are consistent with brand standards, align to strategic objectives and drive meaningful value and real financial progress, with tactics tailored to the specific needs of each customer segment. They will be responsible for a high level of strategy and execution to support customer segments with their deposit goals and other business KPIs, as needed. 

This role will lead other direct reports in developing, recommending and executing strategic, integrated campaigns that support customer acquisition, cross-sell, satisfaction and retention. They will lead in forecasting marketing spend to performance goals and leverage ongoing data to refine and pivot strategies to optimize growth and limit attrition. They will build strong cross-functional relationships across both business lines and functional support teams, and act as a liaison for marketing in a fast-paced and highly matrixed organization to ensure we’re producing impactful, engaging and high-quality marketing support that drives deposit growth and retention across the U.S. market.   

Responsibilities – here are some of the things you will be doing in this role: 

Within the first 30 days, you will:  

  • Cultivate and build relationships with your business and functional group partners including digital marketing, field leadership, legal and compliance, and other groups as, needed, to successfully and sustainably grow key US Consumer segments.

  • Act as a trusted consultative partner to assigned business/group; help determine business priorities and best sequence for execution against priorities.  

  • Develop comprehensive, pithy and innovative briefs for design and execution partners and identify, evaluate and implement marketing tactics and media opportunities (e.g.: Direct Mail, Email, Digital) and actively monitor programs to ensure that we are tracking toward our goals. 

  • Track and analyze performance data to measure effectiveness and find opportunities for improvement. 

Within the first 60 days, you will also: 

  • Design and produce regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards. 

  • Monitor progress against milestones, and recommend and implement adjustments as necessary to meet business objectives. 

  • Own and manage budgets for all segments.

  • Manage the project management reporting, strategy brief reviews and weekly intake and status calls and reports, as needed. 

  • Identify emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making. 

  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal/external partners to include vendors and suppliers.  

By the end of your first 90 days, you will also: 

  • Lead marketing and customer acquisition strategy and execution for all US consumer segments segment, including integrated marketing acquisition campaigns, creative and collateral, customer journeys and field communications. 

  • Lead their team in the planning and implementation of annual marketing and business strategies and budgets forsegments.

  • Partner closely with strategy, product and other partners to innovate our offerings and best position BMO to win vs. competitor segments.

  • Own and manage segment budget to track actual results vs budget. 

Qualifications

  • 5 - 7 years of relevant experience  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, advertising or communications, or related field.  

  • Experience in customer segmentation marketing a plus 

  • Advanced experience in developing Marketing and Customer Communications plans. 

  • Advertising and/or creative agency experience an asset. Financial services marketing and advertising, preferred. Advanced verbal and written communication skills, preferred. 

  • Strong leadership track record of building, managing and retaining high-performing teams, financial services experience preferred. 

  • Deadline-driven; possess the ability to be proactive, forward-thinking, and resourceful. Exceptional project management skills and attention to detail are required. Advanced experience with Workfront or similar project management software highly preferred. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills; team player with the ability to merge varying points-of-view and build partnerships to get things done. You bring a collaborative working style to all that you do, and are able to influence meaningful action and change within a large, matrixed organization. 

  • Creative problem-solving skills and excellent creative sensibilities: well-developed ability to evaluate whether creative meets strategic objectives and brand standards. 

  • Results-driven: Adept at gathering and analyzing data to gain insight into what works, and develop recommendations to optimize marketing effectiveness. Needs to demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the interest in building and maintaining dashboards, reports and telling meaningful stories to leadership on a wide variety of teams that drive data-driven decisions. 

  • Comfortable working in changing, high growth environments; comfortable with ambiguity and working in matrixed organizations. 

  • Strong proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word, SalesForce, and a knowledge of financial marketing platforms through FIS preferred. 

Compensation and Benefits:

$72,500.00 - $134,500.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
